Cold chamber · horizontal

KSC series · 130 to 1600 tonnes

Cold-chamber machines for aluminium, magnesium and copper. The melt stays in a separate furnace and a ladle delivers each shot — the only way to handle metal above 650 °C.

Why aluminium cannot go in a hot-chamber machine

At around 700 °C, molten aluminium attacks the iron of the gooseneck, the shot chamber and the plunger. The parts erode within weeks, and the iron they give up contaminates the alloy. So the shot chamber is kept out of the furnace: a ladle takes a measured amount of metal and pours it into a cold shot sleeve, and the plunger injects from there.

Intermediate sizes 160, 280, 630, 1000 and 1250 T are also built. Figures are reference values from our current range and are confirmed on the quotation for your order.

Automotive

Transmission and housing parts, brackets, structural castings where wall thickness and porosity are controlled.

Communication & electronics

Optical module housings and connector shells needing dimensional accuracy and internal soundness.

Industrial

Pump and motor housings, fittings, hardware and general engineering castings.

Large machines are built to order. Share the die drawing and the required cycle time — die height and shot parameters determine the final configuration, and a machine that is one size too small will show up as flash and porosity, not as a warning light.

Sizing a cold-chamber machine starts with the die.

Send the die drawing, the alloy and the target cycle. We will confirm clamping force, shot weight and platen size against the KSC range.
